Road to success!

1 Oct 2023

For many years, Lib Dem campaigners have been raising the poor state of Newland Road and Carholme Road with the County Council.

Finally, there is some good news. The council have said that Newland and Carholme Roads (including pavements) up to South Common will be resurfaced from March 2024.

Campaigner James Brown said: “It’s taken a while, but we’re pleased there appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel. The roads have been in a poor condition for years, not helped by patch fixes and constant water leaks. We’ll keep the County Council on their toes and update residents when we hear more.”

Campaigner Sean Clarke added "This is only a start. Residents all know that many other local roads across our community need TLC, from potholes filled to full resurfacing. We will continue pushing for County Hall to bring our roads and pavements up to standard"
