Lincoln, Sleaford & North Hykeham Liberal Democrats are pleased to announce that James Brown has been chosen to fight the Carholme By-Election for the party on 19th October.
James, who has lived in Lincoln for 6 years and Carholme for 2, now works as a Software Engineer at a local Aerospace firm after studying at the University.
On his selection, James said, "I am proud to have been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Carholme in this by-election. It's a fantastic area filled with independent businesses, beautiful natural spaces such as the West Common and Liquorice Park and many historical buildings. As well as that the people who live here are some of the most diverse, young and educated people in the City.
"However the area does have it's fair share of issues, I've heard from many local residents of the problems with Anti Social Behaviour, parking & transport and the council's deaf ears when it comes to local planning issues."
"I believe Carholme needs a fresh voice considering the coming years of uncertainty at a local and national level, one that represents the fact it has the highest Remain vote, the youngest population and one of the highest proportions of EU citizens in the entire City and County. I will fight this election to represent all those in Carholme who want a voice that will allow their views to be heard and not just fall into party lines"
Natasha Chapman, Chair of Lincoln, Sleaford & North Hykeham Liberal Democrats said, “It is great to have James selected to fight for the residents of Carholme. His passion, enthusiasm and commitment for our city and the ward is tremendous. I know that he will work hard for local residents and be a positive voice for Carholme on the City Council”.
